Ken McDaniel is haunted by a disturbing
memory: slipping while getting out of the shower and hitting his
head on the side of the tub. Did this really happen or was it just a
dream?
His wife, Karen, assures him that he never
slipped. He wants to believe her, but is bothered by terrible
headaches. He sees a spooky, old woman on a train who was bleeding
from her mouth. He’s unsure if the woman was real, or if she was a
hallucination. Extra responsibilities at work strain his marriage as
he struggles to get a grip on his
life.
Suddenly, he wakes up in an unfamiliar
apartment with a strange woman named Luisa. She hurries him to wake
up and get ready to go. Where is he? Who is this woman? Luisa is
frustrated by Ken’s confusion and tells him that he is going to make
her late for work. He eventually goes with her to the club where she
works. She is an exotic dancer and he works there as a bartender. He
remains confused but some things seem oddly familiar to
him.
Then, he’s back with his wife and his normal
life. But when he falls asleep, he finds himself back with Luisa. He
toggles back and forth between the two different lives. Even with
Luisa, the headaches continue and he sees the bleeding woman while
working at the club. He is still haunted by the memory of slipping
in the bathroom. He asks Luisa about slipping, and she tells him
that he did, in fact, slip and hit his
head.
After some time, Luisa helps him to remember
certain things. Eventually, she guides him through past events until
he remembers everything. Finally, he uncovers the startling truth
about himself and how his seemingly different lives are actually
very much one in the same.
